History
Moffat County celebrated its 100th birthday on February 27, 2011. It was named for David H. Moffat who brought the railroad from Denver to Craig. Craig is the county seat and one of three towns in the county. There is a rich western heritage in Moffat County which can be explored by visiting the two museums in town. The first is the Museum of Northwest Colorado in downtown Craig and the other is the Wyman Museum just to the east of town. Of particular interest in our history are the dinosaurs that once roamed this land at Dinosaur National Monument in NW Moffat County and Brown's Park where Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid once spent time. We hope you enjoy the student depictions of the history of our local area.
